Today is my friend Kelly Kent's birthday and I have the pleasure of participating in a Blog Hop with many of her papercrafting friends to celebrate her special day. Hope you are having a fabulous birthday, Kel x.

I decided to make a birthday card and of course what's a birthday without cake so the Sweet Soiree Suite was an obvious choice for me.
I have created a shadow box card, a style which I haven't made for a while. Recently my lovely friend Nicole Wilson made a beautiful shadow box card and it inspired me to make one for Kelly's birthday.
I cut a piece of Powder Pink cardstock and a piece of Cake Soiree Specialty Designer Series paper 14.85 x 10.5 cms and scored at 1.3, 2.6, 12.2 and 13.5 cms (5 3/4 x 4 1/8" scored at 1/2, 1, 4 3/4 and 5 1/4 inches).
I die cut the cake shape out of the front piece of cardstock with the Sweet Cake Framelits and then dry embossed it with the Scattered Sequins Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
I die cut 4 cake shapes and then stamped, silver heat embossed and coloured in one of them with Stampin' Blends and Stampin' Write Markers. I then layered them together with dimensionals.
I adhered a Pearlized Doily to the inside back and layered the cake onto it.
I embellished the front of the card with die cut flowers and leaves which I coloured in with markers. I also used one of the silver embossed vellum florals from the Sweet Soiree Embellishment Kit which I coloured from the back with blends.
The sentiment is from Happy Birthday Gorgeous heat embossed in white on Berry Burst cardstock and punched out with the Classic Label Punch.
I adhered a piece of Whisper White cardstock 9 x 10 cms (3 1/2 x 4 inches) to the back
The card presses flat to fit inside a C6 envelope for posting.
