Social Stamping - Friend

Hello and welcome to the Social Stamping Blog Host with a whole group of talented crafters joining in from around the world.

The group was put together by my lovely friend and fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator Kelly Kent for us to share our creations at a time where we are social distancing and many are in isolation.
You may have arrived from seeing Chantell Randall's gorgeous creation but if you started here, click the 'Next' button at the bottom of this post to continue hopping.

The theme that Kelly has chosen for us this week is 'Friend'. Friendship is more important than ever during this time in isolation and I am so thankful for the wonderful network of friends I have through my love of crafting.
For my card I decided to Case myself.
This is a card which I designed last November when I had the honour to present the Peaceful Poppies Suite at OnStage Local in Perth.

Materials:
Whisper White Thick cardstock 21cm x 14.85cm for the card base scored at 10.5cm
Peaceful Poppies Designer Series Paper (DSP) 14.85cm x 10.5cm
Whisper White cardstock 15cm x 6cm to stamp poppy blooms & leaves
Blackberry Bliss cardstock 10cm x 10.5cm for partial die-cut layer
and 2 pieces 7cm x 1cm to die cut the border
Vellum 10.3cm x 9cm

Step 1
Partially die cut the 'Swirly' shape as shown (Note: the cardstock will only be cut where the top cutting plate covers the die)

Step 2
Mark the cardstock for cutting as shown then cut along the pencil lines with a scalpel or paper trimmer

Step 3
The finished die-cut will look like this.
Stamp the sentiment with Versamark and heat emboss with white embossing powder

Step 4
Adhere the border pieces to the lower edge of the die-cut

Step 5
Mark the Vellum at 5.7cm on the shorter (9cm) side and use the paper trimmer to cut diagonally as shown

Step 6
Stamp the poppy blooms and leaves with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Sponge the poppy blooms in a circular motion with Blackberry Bliss ink starting in the centre and working out to the edges.
Colour the leaves using the Light and Dark Mossy Meadow Stampin' Blends.
Die cut the stamped and coloured images.

Step 7
Adhere the DSP to the card base.
Adhere the Vellum to the DSP using either Tear n Tape or Glue Dots.

Step 8
Adhere the Blackberry Bliss die-cut to the card front.
Adhere the poppy blooms and leaves to the die-cut using Dimensionals.

Technique - Mirror Image Stamping

On Tuesday we had our first 'Crafternoon In Isolation' get-together via Zoom. While I am not able to hold our fortnightly classes in person, I will be holding them every other week via Zoom and in the weeks in between we will be having a catch-up where we can show what we have been making and I will be demonstrating a technique.

This week's technique was Mirror Image Stamping

The Happy Tails stamp set has an image of a dog looking to the left but what if you want a dog looking to the right? Here are the steps used to create the brown dog on the card which was inspired by Frenchie Stamps.

Step 1
Stamp a dog on a piece of cardstock and punch out with the Dog Punch

Step 2
Place the negative image onto the Stamparatus on top of a silicone mat

Step 3
Line up the dog stamp in the punch-out and pick up with the Stamparatus

Step 4
Ink up the stamp and stamp onto the silicone mat

Step 5
Placed the punched-out dog onto the silicone mat and press firmly on the punched out dog. This will transfer the inked image from the silicone mat to the reverse side of the dog punch-out

And there you have a stamped mirror image of the dog. If the image is not dark enough, just repeat steps 4 and 5.

If you want to just stamp a mirror image onto a card without punching out, simply stamp the image onto the silicone mat, and then use the mat as a 'Stamp' to transfer the image to your card.
This technique can also be used with dies instead of a punch.

Crafternoon In Isolation Challenge #1 - One Layer Stamping

As I can no longer hold my fortnightly 'Crafternoon' classes in person, I have created a private Facebook group for my ladies where we can share news and projects while we are in isolation. Classes are now being held fortnightly via Zoom and in the weeks between classes, I have started a short Tips & Techniques session via Zoom where we can chat and catch up and I demonstrate a technique which we have not previously done in class.

To keep the creative juices flowing, I have started a weekly challenge in which everyone can participate and post their projects on our private group. The weekly winner is drawn using a random number generator during our Zoom session and receives a small spot prize with their next class kit.

Once I have set the theme for the challenge, I create a project to start us off. This week I chose the very versatile stamp set 'Perennial Birthday' for my card.

The images were stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured using Dark Pool Party, Light & Dark Granny Apple Green and Dark Highland Heather Stampin' Blends.
I placed a strip of paper across the Whisper White card about 4cms from the top edge to form a mask and then stamped the images above and below that.
Measurements: Coastal Cabana card base 21cms x 14.85cms scored at 10.5cms. Whisper White card layer 14.25cms x 10cms, masking strip 2.5cms x 13cms
